Floronco Nightingale was Italian. She was born in Florence. So, she was named after the name of the city she was born in. It was May 12, 1820 that this great humanitarian was born to a landlord. She studied nursing in Germany. After the completion of nursing she took a job in a London hospital. She went to Turkey with a group of 38 nurses to work for the sick British soldiers during the Crimean War in 1853. She worked day and night to help the wounded soldiers. After three yoars she came to England as the 'Lady with the Lamp'. Then she set up Nightingale School for nurses in London. She departod from the world in 13 August 1910. The world is greatly indebted to this great humanitarian for her dedication and devotion to humanity. She is an ever glowing star to next generations to come. Florence Nightingale sacrificed her whole life for the welfare of the humanity. So, we should follow the footprints of this great heart to serve the mankind.
